WCR_RC-and-Colonel-SandersFounded by Earl Weber, Ron Cohn and Jim Riley, WCR was one of Chicago’s “hot” agencies during the “Mad Men” days. WCR was the first agency for KFC (doing The Colonel’s commercials for five years,) handled the Chrysler dealers during the Lee Iaccoca days, Home Federal Savings, Silverado Bank, Denver (Jeb Bush), Great American Federal, Mott’s Applicious soft drink, the CTA and RTA, the Chicago Economic Development img-ron-iococcaCommission, Avis, Old Chicago Amusement Park, The Board of Trade, Westinghouse Radio stations, Hilton Hotels, Arlington Park race track, AAA Travel, Browns Chicken, Eyecare Physicians of America, The White Sox for 11 years (Good guys wear black, etc) Van Kampen Funds and the Cable Television Council (1-800-Cable-Me.) Real estate was an important sub-specialty at WCR, handling the Sandburg Village, Harbor Point, National Homes, Mission Hills and Lake Barrington Shores accounts. Respected for four decades in Chicago advertising, the name Weber Cohn & Riley eventually disappeared into advertising’s mergerland of the nineties.
